St. Michael-Eppan Pinot Grigio St. Valentin 2023
Ricotta Impastata with Praline Pistachios and Melon Confit
The St. Michael-Eppan Pinot Grigio 2023 is an elegant and complex wine with toasty aromas of grapefruit, earth and herbs. Medium bodied with ripe, generous mango flavors, a silky texture, crisp acidity and a long, filigreed finish. Drink now. 94 Pts. James Suckling
Beef Course
Arnaldo Rivera Vignarionda 2019
Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio with Parmigiano Reggiano and Truffled Arugula
The Arnaldo Rivera Vignarionda 2019 has hints of spiced cherries, raspberry bush, dried sage, ground spices and nutmeg. Medium- to fullbodied with super fine, polished tannins that are compact and seamless. Firm with fresh red berry crunchiness in the middle. Refined and lingering. Power with delicacy. 95 Pts. James Suckling, 94 Pts. Wine Advocate
Poultry Course
Barone Ricasoli CeniPrimo Chianti Classico Gran Selenzione 2021
Toscani con Fegatini: Chicken Pate with Cracked Pepper, Roasted Garlic, and Focaccia Crostini
The last of Ricasoli's vineyards to be picked, Ceniprimo is located on an ancient fluvial terrace of sand and silt. At 300 metres above sea level, it faces west to southwest. As with all three of Ricasoli's cru bottlings, this is fermented with selected yeasts indigenous to the Brolio estate, and ages in 500-litre tonneaux of which 30% are new. Medicinal herbs and vanilla weave through dark red cherry. The ripe, dense, fleshy fruit is coated with ample dusty tannins, while zesty, citrussy acidity gives a refreshing, countering lift. It leaves behind resounding suggestions of leather, chinotto and earthy forest roots, and deserves cellaring. 95 Pts. Decanter, 96 Pts. James Suckling, 96 Pts. Wine Spectator
Lamb Course
Poggio Antico Vigna I Poggi 2019
Ragu di Agnello: Lamb Shoulder Ragu with Red Wine, Rosemary, and Pappardelle Pasta
The rich magenta-colored 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Vigna I Poggi leaps from the glass with aromas of preserved black cherries, crushed flowers, sweet sage, and toasted cedar. Full-bodied, this is a gorgeous wine with sweet, velvety tannins, outstanding depth, and a fantastically long finish with warming spices. It's a high-octane wine, although it has all the components to balance it out, and it’s going to last for ages. 96 Pts. Decanter, 96 Pts James Suckling, 96 Pts. Wine Advocate
Dessert Course
Bruno Giacosa Barbera D’Alba 2022
Mascarpone Mousse with Red Wine Poached Peard, Fig Jam, and Balsamic
The Bruno Giacosa Barbera D’Alba 2022 shines with an intense ruby red color and expressive aromas of cherry, plum and forest fruit notes matched with a balanced, lively mouthfeel and acidic freshness on the finish. Produced from 30 year old vines and aged in oak for 14 months, this classic Barbera is impressively complex and elegant.
